We've been super busy lately! The end of the semester is rapidly approaching and both Adam and I are CRAZY BUSY with tying up the loose ends of classes! Some weeks it feels like I work much more than three days per week...and the housework, of course, never lets up! On top of that, we're still waiting to finish the hardwood floors, so our dining room is a disaster and the top half of the house is covered with dust! Whew!
I did find out that I failed my three hour glucose tolerance test...this means a diagnosis of gestational diabetes. My fasting glucose was 73; then I drank the nasty stuff; my one hour was 193; my two hour was 164; and my three hour was 36 (VERY LOW!). So, my meeting with the diabetes educator is at 9am tomorrow morning. We'll see how this goes! Since I've known about this for about a week, I've changed a few things with my diet and am trying to eat healthier...and more like a diabetic. This means sugar-free kool-aid...a huge change for me!!! Luckily, it isn't that different from the full-of-sugar stuff, so I don't miss the regular kind! It's really tough to just change at the drop of a hat like that. And its kind of funny...I teach patients all the time, but can't seem to remember any of that education when I'm dealing with my own health.
My belly feels SO huge right now! With the new diagnosis of gestational diabetes, we're worried about a large baby...and hoping she doesn't get too big! Some of my maternity clothes are beginning to get a big stretched and small...hope they can hold out for 10 more weeks!:)
That being said, I'm not sure this little one will be in there for a full 10 more weeks! I don't horribly mind her coming early...but we're REALLY unready for her!:) Here's hoping that our furniture comes in soon and the floors are finished soon and we can get our home put back together before she arrives!
