Tomorrow, our daughter turns ONE!
That's roughly 3,000 diapers, 1,500 bottles, hundreds of loads of laundry, and countless moments of insanity, crying, pride and joy! It seems as if it were only yesterday that our sweet little bundle was born. And here we are, living life with a one year old. We have already learned so much from little Claire...so much that you can only really understand after you've held your own slippery little brand-new miracle in your arms.
I have never in my life fell in love so quickly and so completely. I have never been so quick to forget myself for the sake of someone else's needs. I have never felt my heart ache for anyone quite like I do for my sick or hurting child. Her smile makes me melt...her giggle makes me beam with happiness. I can't even begin to describe how Claire has changed our lives.
There's also something wonderful about watching your husband with your daughter. At first it's the sweet delicate movements....him swaying with her at 3am, gently picking her up to change her teeny-tiny diaper. Now it's the full body swing or the toss into the air that makes her squeal in delight...and makes Dad giggle.
I thought I'd share my favorite few pictures of Miss Claire as a newborn...they also make me smile.
We can't wait for Saturday!
